Julie Ludwig, President

Julie Ludwig is the Marketing Manager at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, a prominent Denver-based law firm. She has worked in the marketing industry for 10 years, on both the agency side and in-house, doing primarily business-to-business and professional services marketing and PR. Ludwig has played an active role in IABC Colorado for several years, having served on the chapter board and on the planning committee for the 2008 Southern Region Conference held in Denver. Ludwig holds a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

 

 

Nolan Sundrud, Vice President of Finance/Treasurer

Nolan Sundrud is the Americas Communications Manager for MWH, an environmental engineering firm. Among other duties, he manages executive communications, advertising, company branding, sales materials and internal communications.  Previously he was the COO for Cole Diagnostics, a national pathology firm, where he re-branded the company, created a web presence, developed marketing materials, and controlled the company's finance and HR activities. For 10 years he also worked at Hewlett-Packard in executive communications, PR and marketing. Sundrud earned an MBA from Colorado State University and received his undergraduate degree in public relations from Brigham Young University in Utah. 

 

 

Cathy Chase, Administrator/Secretary

Cathy Chase serves as Corporate Communications Manager for CenturyLink (formerly Qwest Communications), the nation’s third-largest telecommunications company with approximately 47,000 employees. She has worked in the strategic communications industry for more than 20 years and has experience on both the agency and corporate sides of the business. Prior to moving to Denver in 2009, Chase spent 13 years with Kansas City-based American Century Investments, where she advanced through various communications roles with increasing responsibilities. Other professional experience includes communications/marketing and PR positions at UMB Financial Corporation and Sturges Word Communications, an integrated marketing and communications firm. Chase has played an active role in IABC Colorado since joining the chapter and has served on the Communications Committee as newsletter editor the past two years. She is a former member of the Public Relations Society of America and earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Mo. 

 

 

Michael Perini, Vice President of Membership

Michael B. Perini is owner of perini & associates, a full service public relations firm.  He has worked in the public relations field for more than 30 years and has served in IABC chapter positions previously.  He's an award-winning writer and a Public Relations Society of America, Silver Anvil recipient.   Before starting perini & associates, Perini was the Executive Director, National Institute of Science, Space and Security Centers, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He served more than 36 years in the Air Force, in both civilian and military positions and is a retired colonel.  Additionally, Perini served in senior positions in public affairs at NORAD, U.S. Northern Command, U.S. Air Force Space Command and U.S. SPACE COMMAND. He served as public affairs officer at the wing, major command and Air Force levels.  He also served a year on the editorial staff of Air Force Magazine in Washington, D.C., and is the former editor and publisher of Airman Magazine at Kelly AFB, Texas.  Perini was the first U.S. military officer journalist to visit the Soviet Union and has won several IABC Quill awards for his work in public relations.  During 2005, he led the largest U.S. military public affairs operation in the U.S. during Hurricane Katrina.  He has been a guest lecturer/speaker, Graduate School of International Studies, University of Denver and the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, National Homeland Defense Symposium, National Space Symposium, Georgetown University, Texas Tech University and Trinity University.  His awards include: National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals, PRSA Silver Anvil, Crisis Communication (Government Category) and IABC San Antonio Communicator of the Year. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Washington State University and a master of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi

 

 

Sherry Boyd, Vice President of Communications

Sherry A. Boyd is an independent branding consultant, writer, editor, publicist and event planner. After a 30-year career encompassing both agency and in-house experience, she established Boyd-Works Marketing in 2008. Boyd also donates her time to the annual Alternative Gift Fair of Evergreen, which raised $112,000 for nonprofits in 2010. While she was the marketing and communications director for a leading building materials manufacturer, she won numerous creative awards, including an Award of Excellence in Integrated Marketing from McGraw-Hill in 2004. Previously, Boyd was a national IABC workshop presenter and a columnist for IABC News. She graduated with a bachelor of arts in English and Technical Communications, Summa Cum Laude, from Metropolitan State College Denver. Boyd lived in England for more than 16 years, and completed a year of postgraduate coursework in international relations and European economics at Keele University, Staffordshire, U.K.

Jill Ladwig has been a professional writer and communicator for more than 15 years. Her career has spanned several states and industries, and includes experience in corporate brand development, marketing, internal communications and media relations. As a consultant, she focuses on communicating complex topics for lay audiences, especially in the fields of science and technology. She has led communications at the Universities of Hawaii, California and Wisconsin, as well as in private industry. She was the worldwide corporate brand strategist for Ingram Mirco, a Fortune-100 technology company, and also directed communications at Flad Architects, a national architecture and engineering firm. A former radio and television reporter, Ladwig has a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin.

 


Sherry JohnsonVice President of Professional Development

Sherry Johnson has more than 15 years of experience in corporate communications: specializing in media relations, strategic planning, reputation management, crisis/issues management, employee communications, copy writing and editing.  Johnson has spent her career serving global, Fortune 500 companies where she proved to be a strategic advisor to senior management, an articulate and able spokesperson and a creative problem solver.  In her professional capacity, she is a passionate writer and hands-on communicator.  In her free time, Johnson is an avid traveler and amateur photographer.  Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Regis University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University.

 

 

Stacy WilsonDirector of Accreditation

Stacy Wilson, ABC, is president of Eloquor Consulting, Inc., in Lakewood, Colo. She has more than two decades of experience and has focused on internal communication and organizational development since the mid 90s. Her firm helps organizations communicate more effectively with employees, leveraging internal communication strategically to deliver business results. Clients include Fortune 500 companies from many different industries. Wilson is a former IABC International Board member, former chair of the IABC Southern Region Conference and former director of IABC District 5. She is a frequent speaker and author.

 

 

Tricia Olson, Director of Volunteer Recruitment

Tricia Olson is a corporate communication manager for ARCADIS, an international company providing consultancy, design, engineering and management services in infrastructure, water, environment and buildings. She specializes in leading strategic communication and marketing campaign development for professional engineering services. In 2008, she joined ARCADIS as an event manager, and shortly thereafter moved into a strategic communication role for ARCADIS’ Corporate Services. Currently, Olson manages corporate communication strategies for key market sectors and services within ARCADIS’ Environment Division. Previously, she worked with the American Water Works Association (AWWA) as a product marketing manager for the association’s professional events and educational resources. Olson began her career in sales and event management after graduating from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications.
